with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction, manufacturing, colors/finish/material
What is an Internet of things (IOT)?
a system of interrelated computing devices, machines, objects that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
Research
Market research led us toward what forms and functions would be most effective to include. Considering the goal of family-friendliness, we needed to consider the comprehensive capabilities of our target audience.
Our chosen design consists of soft organic shapes for an approachable appearance and interchangeable pieces to add playfulness and customizability.
Manufacturing processes
Designed and engineered for manufacturing, parts include an LED panel, synthetic mesh fabric, annular snaps and ribs made of polypropylene (PP) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). Materials were chosen based on their durability, heat and impact resistance, and smooth finish. Electronic housing components would be made through processes such as injection molding and ultrasonic welding.
